Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre (NSW)
The Woolgoolga Neighbourhood Centre aims to provide assistance to the community by setting up in-house services, and by encouraging other service providers to outreach to Woolgoolga. To date the service encompasses most of the community needs including the target groups senior citizens, children, youth, women's health, and people from a Non English Speaking Background (NESB). All services in the area for NESB (particularly the Punjabi People) are through this Centre. The referral service to specialist agencies is essentially for crisis situations (eg domestic violence, homelessness, sexual assualt). The community work offered is that as required by the Department such as probation and youth. The first aid courses are run by St. John Ambulance. The Centre participates as a generalist agency for visiting Welfare students and also provides statistics and information for research assignments by these students and volunteer work.
