1RPH Radio for the Print Handicapped

Print-handicapped radio is a regular radio service majoring on providing information for people who cannot read print or who cannot easily do so.The station broadcasts on 1125 on the AM band. Whatever is available in print is broadcast, with a strong emphasis on current news and events. The daily papers, magazines, books, short stories, etc. Radio 1 RPH broadcasts newspaper items on sport and recreation and has plans to cover sports for the accessible, either on a regular basis or on special occasions. We also read newsletters from other organisations and are willing to consider any other programs about sport which would interest a print handicapped audience. Most material is read by volunteers. Local and interstate newspapers and magazines are read. Each evening a special interest segment is read from the Canberra times, covering such topics as computers, health, gardening etc. Current affairs bulletins from overseas sources such as the Economist are also broadcast.
